Back in occupied Palestine

March 31, 2009

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delayed post. It’s always difficult to mitigate the insufferable madness of trying to tie up loose ends before a trip back here. My first day back in Palestine was one of beauty and rage; those eternal, endemic twins.

Went to a demonstration inside the green line, in a Palestinian village of Deir Hanna, for a comemmoration of Land Day that was connected with the first annual Global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions day. Thousands of Palestinians with Israeli citizenship turned out, some made speeches, many t-shirts emblazoned with BDS stickers.

After the demo we continued north, and made our way through the windy roads of the Galilee, until the snow-capped mountains of Lebanon came into view. Springtime in Palestine is an incredible time of year — wildflowers, warmth, and the amplified whispers of revolution.
